Sam would be proud
Amy and I have decided we really like St. Louis; from what we’ve seen of it anyway.
The city is remarkably easy to get around in from the downtown area. Yesterday’s trip to the St. Louis Science Center and to the St. Louis Zoo was really easy to maneuver. It’s much easier to get around in than Kansas City.
It’s dark and gloomy today, so we’re going to hit the zoo again since we didn’t get to spend a lot of time there yesterday. Believe it or not, we still haven’t made it up to the top of the arch yet. We’ve been here four days and haven’t been to the city’s biggest landmark. Geez. I suppose we’ll get there eventually.
Last night, as we were headed out to dinner to celebrate our anniversary, Amy noticed she had a small hole in her shirt. We’re obviously a little unfamiliar with the area, but we needed to find someplace other than the hotel gift shop to find some sewing items.
Can you guess where we ended up? You’ve probably guessed it. We ended up at Wal-Mart.
However, for this one time, I was actually grateful.
Most of the people we’ve come across in St. Louis who are working in the service industry (hotel, Six Flags, etc.) have been rude, or, appeared to not care at all that they’re doing a job. However, when we went to Wal-Mart, the cashier was really friendly, asked where we were from (probably from my Kansas ID when cashing a traveler’s check), if we were enjoying our stay, blah, blah, blah. You know the drill.
How sad that our friendliest service came from a Wal-Mart cashier out of all the places we’ve been during our stay. Maybe today will be different.
